This is the technical report of National Assessment of Student Achievement (NASA) for grade 8 conducted by Education Review Office (ERO) in 2012. The overall objective of this assessment was to find out whether the students of grade eight had achieved the goals set by the national curricula in Mathematics, Nepali language and Science. In order to achieve the overall objectives of this assessment, the study not only assessed the overall achievement levels in the selected subjects, but also analysed the variations in student achievements among different strata of population with considerations for and associations of various school related diversity factors on achievement. Furthermore, it examined the extent to which the home background and other pupil related factors have influenced the learning achievement.
